A crown is used to cover or “cap” a damaged or broken down tooth. Crowns strengthen a compromised tooth increasing the lifespan of the tooth and preventing further breakdown and eventual loss. A crown can also be used to improve a tooth’s appearance, shape or alignment. Crowns are also placed on top of implants in the process of replacing missing teeth to provide the tooth-like shape and function.
